“We only have 1 or 2 employees”
Small business owners assume they are too small to use a payroll service. Not true. In fact, having only a few employees makes it even more cost effective to use a payroll service. The alternative is manually calculating pay, remitting the right taxes at the right frequency. Time is money. Mistakes that lead to fines and penalties are costly. Another alternative is QuickBooks. However, the software is $200-300. The tax table is another $295 the last time I checked. Check stock and envelopes, ink and toner isn’t cheap.
Are you running a business? Then why would you choose to be a payroll clerk inside your business? That job literally pays you nothing, makes you nothing, and is time better spent smoozing customers, collecting past-due receivables, doing marketing, or a whole host of things that make you money. Isn’t that why you went into business?
