Politicians love to say we should tax the rich, which they define as over 200-250K of income. Most small businesses are owned by individuals, people you know. Most are S-Corp’s or other types that pass through the business’s net income to the individual’s tax return. Just because the business made that sort of net income does not mean the owner put that in their pocket! Most only take out enough to live and keep the retained earnings cash in the business as working capital to fund payrolls, materials, equipment so they don’t have to borrow the money from the bank.
Are these really the people to punish?
